Business Camp “review”:

(1)

Category : Uncategorized

Let me start by thanking everyone who made Business Camp a success; there are the speakers who gave up their Sunday to come to Limerick and share their knowledge and experience with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. The talks were all of a high caliber and I am certain that a lot of people went home with  new ideas and knowledge that will crystallize into new businesses or innovations in the future.

Another big “Thank you” goes out to all our sponsors. As the event is free off charge we would be nowhere without sponsors support. So Thank you: Meteor, Microsoft, MacLachlan & Donaldson, SpinnakerPro, C-Infinity, Hosting365, Maxroam and the Limerick City Enterprise Board.

The third “thank you” goes out to all those who attended the event. There were some familiar faces but a lot of new faces also and I really appreciate every single one of them showing up on the event. I clearly indicates that there is a need for events like these and is also a great vote of support for what I am trying to achieve with the Greenhouse. Again; thank you very much for supporting me in my work.

While I enjoyed the whole day there are certain “highlights” that jump out:Roland Steinmetz saving me by bringing me a coffee and his boundless overall enthusiasm, Simon McGarr being slightly groggy due to being hit in the back off the head by a planet (his words, not mine) explaining his ideas for rejuvenating the Limerick shopfronts to me, mistaking Andrew Townley for Karl Deeter and vice-versa, Finally getting to meet @ubfid (Fergus O’Rourke) & @paraic (Paraic Hegarty) in person, Adrian Avandano repeatedly using the “f-word” to liven up the panel discussion, Bernard Chanliau making some very wise comments and lost more great moments.

Unfortunately due to someone calling in sick at the last moment I was chained to the reception desk all day preventing me from catching any of the talks. However going by the feedback received in person, via twitter, email & sms all talks where of a high caliber. I will be putting all presentations that I have online shortly. If you have attended a talk and would like to review it please feel free to contact me via email and I would be delighted to put your review on the website.

To round of all the talks we had a prize-draw with some great prizes. Andrew Townley went home with a shiny new Nokia N97 courtesy of Meteor, Roisin Bennet won a C-Infinity Live-Vault backup account, Mark Kearns will get a premium listing in Whatswhat.ie’s online directory, Adrian Avendano won the Hosting365 Cloudhosting account, Paraic Hegarty won the 1/2 page free advert in the new SiliconIreland Magazine and lastly Ellen Dudley won the “Maxroam Mystery prize”.

To compliment a great day I had a nice meal and a great evening with drinks in company of some great friends (@schregardus, @melaniedawn, @whatswhat_sian, @local_discount, @noel_discount and off course @mrs_Bopp). We also had a surprise visit from @tony_frattaroli!

I’m taking a week off from organising events and then it’s full steam ahead with #businesscamp events for Dublin, Galway, Cork & Belfast. Check back here for details!
