Jackie Quinn from Quinn Corporate Finance has agreed to give a workshop on all aspects of corporate finance including business planning, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, sale of business, fundraising, shareholder structures and commercial litigation matters.
The workshop will take place in one of sthe smaller meeting rooms (exact room to be announced) from 11:30 am until 12:30.
There have been a lot of events aimed at start-ups recently. However a lot of these events limit themselves by addressing the business start-up & growth process only from the point of view of the entrepreneur. This is especially true in the area of funding. There will be a lot of talks about how to write your business-plan, how to do your financial forecast and how to approach a possible investor. However what is generally missing are VC’s, Angel Investors and organisations that actually invest. Hearing their side of the process is extremely valuable and will quite often serve as an eye-opener.
For Business Camp I have worked on getting a better representation in this area and I am delighted to announce that we will have talks by people from the HALO Business Angel Network & “First Step Microfinance”. I am also talking to a few VC funds and hope to be able to announce more speakers from this industry soon!
C-Infinity has today given us a a LiveVault Server Backup account to give away as a prize during Businss Camp!
LiveVault is a remote backup service that helps customers adhere to any industry data protection regulations or laws by protecting data residing on a business, web and database server.
The LiveVault™ service performs automated incremental backups ensuring you have the latest data securely stored and ready for restore at anytime.
Business Camp is a “user driven event”. This means that the content of the day is largely dictated by people attending and that we depend on volunteers to organise and support the event.
What is also means is that we depend on our network to help us promote the event.
In order to do so I would appreciate it if people could download the event flyer, print it out and stick it up in a suitable locations.
In addition to the great talks & excellent networking opportunities at Business Camp we will also have a number of work-shops and walk-in sessions during the day. Topics will run from Intellectual Property, Patent & Design registration, Company formation/compliance to Digital marketing & Funding (VC & Angel funding).
The workshops are free of charge and open to anyone attending Business Camp.
I have received a number of question regarding Internet access during the event and am happy to announce that all areas will be covered by free wifi Internet access courtesy of the Absolute Hotel.
The Absolue Hotels wifi service is absolutly top-class with fast connection speeds and little or no latency. That is one of the reasons why it’s also used as a location of the monthly Limerick Open Coffee Club meetings.
If you have any special connectivity needs please feel free to ask.
Would you like to promote your business to an audience of starting or growing entrepreneurs?
Business Camp 09 can offer you the opportunity to do so; we have space for a limited number of stands where you can meet new entrepreneurs, create potential customers and generally promote your product or service. We expect 300-400 attendees so you will gain maximum exposure.
Irish Rail has made a great offer to support the event and to promote the use of public transport.
Anybody traveling to the event by rail will be entitled to a 10% discount (beyond their current web discounts). Please contact us for the discount code that you can use when purchasing your ticket.
And if that’s not generous enough they are also offering a discount of 5% for one month for all companies/delegates who attend the conference. This is normally only offered to companies who already do significant business with us.
It’s just over 4 weeks to go until the day of Business Camp 09 and things are falling into place nicely. We have 30 signups so far with lots of enquires and we that without any major publicity effort.
We have 9 registered speakers with several more to be confirmed over the next week. One of the things we have decided to avoid after our experience in Bizcamp is to have too many speakers. Not only will people be forced to choose between good speakers, it also limits the opportunity to network and that is one of the big attractions of this event.
Talks confirmed so far will cover the following topics:
Digital Marketing
Market Intelligence: “know your competitors”
“Old Skool PR is dead”
The ins & outs of intellectual property legislation
Company registration, filings & compliance issues
“How to profit through innovation”
Patent applications & trademarks
The legal implications of cloud computing
Shareholder agreements, equity, share options etc.
Please remember the event is free of charge! So make sure you register early.
