The line for talks at Business Camp 09 is developing nicely.

Learning from the feedback from Bizcamp Limerick we have decided to limit to number of speakers and concurrent talks. We had a lot of people comment that it was almost impossible to chose and hence the number of talks at Business Camp will be less and more focused. We will also have no more than two concurrent talks or presentations.

At the moment we have 5 talks with the number increasing every day:

  • Ed Field, founder of Digino will be talking about Digital marketing.
  • Paraic Hegarty: Paraic has a lenghty career in the technology industry. He is now active as a business consultant & business angel.
  • Carol Tallon: Carol is the commercial director of Buyers Broker Ltd.
  • Pat Phelan: Pat is well know in Irish Technology & Telecoms circles as the founder of Maxroam/Cubic Telecom. Pat will be talking about “Old skool PR is dead”.
  • Cathal Lane: Cathal is a highly experienced European patent attorney with Tomkins & Co. He has an extensive practice before the European Patent Office and national practice in Ireland and the UK, including patent litigation, and his practice includes advice on all aspects of international IP protection

We also have 19 registered attendees and this number is steadily rising!

I’ve received several emails and tweets with the same question: “how much does it cost to attend Business Camp 09″?

Let me answer that question: IT’S FREE!!!

There is no charge for attending Business Camp 09!

We want to help people start their own business as this will help the economy and all off us in the long run.

The organisors are volunteering their time, the sponsor are helping to pay the costs of organising & running the event and all speakers are donating their time free of charge.

Why? Simple, we do not believe in profiteering from people who are struggling to start their own business.

So, register here and come along on October 11th.

A good start!

Sign-ups for Business Camp 09 was opened today and it’s of to a good start; we have 12 registered attendees today and two confirmed talks. Not huge numbers yet but 43 days to go it’s good sign.

We’re hoping to announce some more very interesting speakers over the next few weeks, something that will certainly help us reach maximum attendee numbers. Make sure you register early as the number of places are limited!

Announcing the Greenhouse Business Camp!

I’m delighted to be able to announce that the Greenhouse Incubator has organised it’s own Business Camp. It will take place on October 11th 2009 in the Absolute Hotel in Limerick and it is a no-charge event. After organising the Bizcamp Limerick in March 2009 as a stand alone event I have decided that the time was right for a bigger event with a broader base. Business Camp targets an “audience” from across Ireland’s MidWest and sets out to provide information & discussion not only on  how to start a business but how to grow it, finance it and how to make it a long-term success.

To improve on earlier events we are not only inviting starting or potential entrepreneurs but we have also invited private & public sector business development bodies, Venture Capital funds, Angel investors etc. So is that a “Bizcamp Limerick II”? No it’s not, it’s more than that. There will be a wider audience there with less of tech-focus and more discussion on *all” sectors of business. We will also touch more on how to progress your business once you’ve started rather than if & how to start your business.

We will be adding a attendee registration & speaker registration pages in the next few days as well as further information on the schedule, venue, accomodation etc. If you are interested in helping organise or run the event or would like to sponsor it please contact us via email.
